The 48th Squadron Association business meeting was held 19 Sep 09 at 1530 hrs.

Bob Maurice called the meeting to order – there were 27 members in attendance.

Old Business:

Bob Maurice stated that now that we have a website, we should be able to streamline our communications by using email notification.  Those who have email access can be advised to see updates on the website for such things as upcoming reunion details.  Those without email will be notified by mail, either by letter or postcard.

Joe Onesty will still do the newsletter to be published on the website and then mailed to those that require a mailing.  Joe wants to make sure that the widows are kept in the loop which probably means mailing the letter.

The motion was proposed, seconded and carried that we will use the website to communicate to the maximum extent practicable.

Nevin Houston will update the roster with input from Joe Onesty and John Classen once a month.

John Classen is compiling the book of biographies on association members so that the information will be available to all members of the association.  There is concern about making this available electronically due to security issues.  We want to be able to know more about our members; however, security will not be compromised.

New Business:

John Classen pointed out that the association bylaws need to be reviewed and updated if necessary.  Bob Maurice and John Classen will undertake this review.

Discussion was opened on the location for the next reunion.  Dick Stultz suggested Colorado Springs.  Bob Maurice suggested Dayton, Ohio to present the FIS plaque in the Memorial Grove.  Joe Onesty suggested Branson, MO because of their package deals that cater to veterans.

The consensus was to go to either Branson or Dayton.  More information will be obtained on each location and the location committee of Joe Onesty, Dick Stultz, Bob Maurice and John Boudreaux will make a determination.

There was some discussion on moving the fix date of third weekend in September to have the flexibility to move the reunion later if location events warrant such a move.  Any earlier date was determined to be impractical.  Moving the reunion date later in September or October to advantage was determined to be acceptable.

Bob Maurice was nominated and re-elected association president without opposition.

Meeting adjourned at 1625 hrs.
